  • Stage 9 done

Made all my miles today. As did my teammates; Rodney, Jeff, and Randy. A very hot and ended as a wet day. But with motorcycling it’s all normal. . D

Off to Key West in the morning. I’m holding down 9th place overall out of 69.

And I’m in 7th place overall on the quizzes.

All in all a great day. Lots of heat, and some rain to end the day.

Over and out for now. Grand finale tomorrow!

  • Stage 8 complete.

Made all miles today, along with my teammates (Rodney, Jeff, and Randy). Most of the day were flat roads and hot! (LtR: Rodney, Randy, Jeff, and me).

Saw the ocean today and stopped here for the quiz.

Bikes ran great today. Rodney and I adjusted our primary and final drive China tonight at the Dealership. Cool to be able to use the shop rather than the parking lot. Jeff chose to take the hotel parking lot.

Here is what tomorrow looks like. Weather will be possible rain.

Here are the standings after today.

Getting to bed early tonight. Thanks for reading.

  • Stage 7 complete

The hottest day yet. Made all the miles on the ride from Macon to Tallahassee. Rode with Rodney, Jeff, and Randy who also had WL models. We ride good together.

The dealership opened up their Service department for all riders.

    Todays ride plan:

The rain will be starting around 2pm. And forecast looks like rain the rest of the ride to Key West.

Still having a great time and now in 9th place overall. 36 of the 69 entrants have perfect miles. 13 riders have dropped out of the running.

Hope you are enjoying these updates. Let me know. Thanks.

  • Stage 6 complete

Ride from Chattanooga to Macon today. HOT! Our 45’s ran great. Still riding with Rodney and Jeff. Mike is here in spirit.

It’s now 11:59pm. A busy day. The folks at HD of Macon were fantastic!

    Had a great lunch here:

Bikes are running great. Oil changes and the normal maintenance today.

Big thanks to Tim Brown for giving us a ride back from the laundromat!

It looks like my scores are creeping up!

    I’m done – good night.

  • Stage Five Completed

Made our way from Bowling Green, KY to Chattanooga, TN today. Very hot ride. Bikes ran good. The three guys I have ridden with every day once again stayed together. Unfortunately Mike was hit by a truck. All things considered he is OK and the bike is repairable. So Mike will be with us in spirit for the rest of the ride. I spoke to him last night and he is going to meet us tonight in Macon.

At each stop so many people coming over to say hi!

Lots of work going on last night in the parking lot. Much different than Cannonball as there are no support crews, only other riders to help.

Also rained pretty good last night; the forecast for today is hot and dry with temps in the mid 90’s. All good!

More bikes came in last night on the trailer.

So on to Stage 6. We will hit the half way point today.

  • Stage four complete

It was a HOT ride today from Urbana to Bowling Green!

Bike ran great. Nothing more than TLC each night.

Brent Thompson’s father and brother paid me a visit at lunch. I could have talked to them all day!

Our riding group (Rodney, Mike, Jeff, and I) continue to ride together and are really settling in to a great rhythm.

Tomorrow we head to Murfreesboro for lunch and Chattanooga for the night.

Bike is good. I am good.

  • Stage Three done

What a day! I know I say that every day. It’s true. After last night at the museum seeing so many great friends and family! And this morning with Nancy, mom and Tom stopping to see me off, wow.

Started the day off cold. Looked like rain so my group of riders “suited up” in case it did rain, and it sure did! A very cold wet ride most of the day.

Had an early morning stop at the HD dealer in DeKalb. A nice surprise to see my uncle Phil there!! Made my day. A short time there and we were off to Ottawa for a lunch stop.

Saw Gina Woods there from Open Road Radio. Great to chat a bit before lunch. Did some minor maintenance and we were off again headed to the nightly stop in Urbana at Andrea’s Harley-Davidson. Lynn and Randy really did a great job welcoming us all!

Did all of my PM (preventative maintenance) work there so none needed after we check in hotel. More friends also stopped in to say hi. Had a nice dinner with a dozen great folks. Back in the room now and getting a good night sleep for the ride tomorrow to Bowling Green, KY.

  • Wow! What a day!

As each day passes and time dwindles away I find less time to post the days events. All I can say is it was a great day. Enjoy the pics.

Thank you all for cheering me on! Means a lot to me.

  • Stage 1: Sault St. Marie to Ludington

Wow, what a day! Here’s what we started with.

We left in 58 degree rain. I rode with Rodney Sterling and Mike Bruso. Great team. Slow and steady. We stopped a few times for Rodney’s clutch issues and my luggage rack and tailight problems. Nothing was a show stopper so we kept rolling!! Helping each other as we accumulated the miles. The rain haunted us the entire 276 miles!

We made sure to stop for the ten point quiz given each day.

All in all we made all miles!

There are two hotels tonight so we were separated for the nightly bike work. I did my preventative maintenance tonight and was glad I did. Found a lot of loose fasteners.

Bike is running great! It will be good to see a lot of friends tomorrow in Manitowoc and Milwaukee. Around 7:20 the sweep truck came in with six bikes. Out of respect for the riders I will NOT post the pictures of the trailer with their bikes. Very emotional to be on the trailer as I know from my Cannonball event.

So the bike is all done and locked together with a fellow rider.

And in the room charging up my battery and odometer!

Up at 4:45 tomorrow to pack bike and get to different hotel for the sendoff.

    Later!
