  • Front Rim

Been a while since I posted. Lots going on behind the scenes! My wheel arrived back from Buchanan’s after I sent rim and hub out for spokes. They sent back wheel with a “loose lace” and I’ll need to do final truing. Slow and steady progress!

  • More on the pedal cranks

Here is the video of the new castings from Jeff Willis after machining by Mike Lynch. So I now have the original crank set that I will use for show and this new set for more serious riding. It was a great experience dealing with these two guys! Awesome talent.

  • Images are being fixed

Thanks again for the patience as I repair the disappearing images. I have to go in and add each one at a time. Very time consuming but am making progress. Thanks again…..I will have more updates soon.

  • The pedals go round and round…

And here is why! Mike Lynch in California was able to “restore” my original bent, twisted, and mangled pedal cranks! Some of the behind the scenes activities taking place. Through a great network I am developing, Mike and I were introduced and the results are spectacular! Thank you Mike.

  • A peak behind the scenes

Here is a peak of one step in the process to straighten the original pedal cranks.

Plan is to save the originals by straightening the bends and twists. Found a machinist that was recommended that is up for the challenge. More to come.

  • A lot going on behind the scenes

I have not posted any pictures lately. That is not to say there is no work happening on the bike! While a lot of components are still soaking in Kroil, I have been networking with a few people who are helping to keep everything moving forward.

I am trying to acquire a spare engine for the bike. I will need it to ensure I am able to have all components to have one solid engine, and some spare parts for future use.

I am also in touch with a machinist in CA for machining the new forgings of the pedal crank. They will also be renewing the original pedal crank. MAJOR work!

Hope to have more photos to update soon……..

  • Still on the pedals

The pedal saga continues…..I picked up a set of Torrington no. 10 pedal thinking I could use the bearing cups and bearings. But, the pedals I picked up are a later set, without the outer nuts on the pedal rubber shafts. The bearings on the replacement set were caged, while my originals held individual ball bearings. So, back to working on my original components.

Using a variety of attachments on the Dremel or air grinder I worked on cleaning up the cups the best I could.

One of the first steps was to use this brush to clean any loose rust or dirt.

So I will keep looking for pieces to use. A fellow AMCA member brought me a crate of pedals to look through…….so the slow steady progress continues.
