All points today! 265 miles completed. Bad news was NO BRAKES! Here’s what I used.

All in all a great day! Bike ran flawless. A happy crew!

A great lunch at Kersting’s. Did lots of work on bike tonight.

Great to see all the Milwaukee folks today! Thank you for coming down.

Tomorrow Looks good. 230 miles and ending in Anamosa at bike museum. Hope to see a lot of folks there!

We are having the time of our life. I don’t want it to stop. The cast of characters is wonderful. About 1/3 of the way complete.

    Over and out.

    PS – we fixed brakes.

  • Stage 4

Seems easy enough right? NOT!! More insane hills. I was extremely frightened and actually scarred at one point early in the day. An extreme downgrade with a stop sign at the bottom. My brakes were smoking and not slowing down! I was not sure how it was going to end. I ended up locking up the brakes and skidded to a stop. My heart was in my throat. Wow! Little did I know later in the day there would be a 17% downgrade and a 17% incline! WTF!! But I was able to accomplish this with the mighty EX (and pedal power).

A great day overall. Grueling to say the least. Got all miles so I am still #1. Unreal. Here’s a sign in hotel.

Here’s the other class one bikes.

Stopped for gas in the rain and noticed my luggage rack was split!

So I zip tied it all together for the next leg. Later in the day the zip ties broke and I had to once again limp it along.

Here’s what my day looks like.

    Way to go Team Effort.

The trailer is working out awesome.

Tomorrow will be about 260 miles to Illinois. I’ll be meeting family, friends, and wifey. We are ready!

I want to thank my sponsors again! Without them this is not possible!

  • Stage 3 saga

I am thrilled today’s ride was cancelled due torrential rain. I think every one was relieved.

So I rode with Rich and Jane to Jamestown, NY. And we came across Michael Lichner who rides backwards the entire Cannonball route to capture all riders.

We arrived at Jamestown Harley for the evening social. We spoke to a lot of folks and sold a few shirts.

All in all a great day. I am stoked for tomorrow’s 271 mile ride to bowling green, Ohio. Bike is ready. So am I.

    Over and out.

  • Stage 2

I’m too tired to write anything other than this was a tough day!

However happy I got all miles today! The inclines were killer. Good night.

  • Stage 1 finish

Got all the points today! Wow. Thanks to Dan and Brent for all they have done to keep the bike in tip top shape!

Had a great breakfast at the Dealer in Portland, followed by lunch at another dealer.

Great riding, lots of big hills. However I was able to climb them all. Also gas stops consisted of oil changes and camaraderie. And the big expense of all my gas receipts today!

Tomorrow will be a tough day: 250 miles. I’ll be riding from 7:15 and have to be checked in by 6:00.

    Good night.

  • Stage 1 lunch

Bike is purring. All good. Lunch hosted by dealer.

    Over and out for now.

  • Stage 1 morning

Good day! Here’s what is in store for us today.

Weather looks good in departure and arrival cities.

Loading up trailer and prepping bike. I’ll pick up scroll route map in 45 minutes and depart here at 7:15.

    No updates until Keene, NH.

    A big day ahead.

  • Day 4

As day 4 comes to an end, this has been a phenomenal experience so far. Erin Nimmer (great granddaughter) of the original owner of my machine, and her family met me at Bug Light Park. Quite emotional.

I completed the required prologue ride so have full points going into the next stage. Tonight’s banquet honored Lonnie JR. who founded this event in 2010.

An excellent dinner and camaraderie ensued. Honored to be here.

Tomorrow begins at 6am to pack my stuff in trailer and inspect bike. Then 145 miles later arrive in Keene, NH.

    Over and out.

  • Perfect Score Prologue

Well well! I’m floating on air right now!! Finished the day with a perfect score of 10 miles! I know, I know only 10 miles (each way) however it was all city stop and go traffic. The ten miles back to hotel from Bug Light Park was the official start.

You can see be the average speeds it was slow going. No issues at all. Here’s some shots from the park.

All kind up for the group photo and had some awesome music.

    A few more:

We inspected the intake and all is well.

And my spare brake parts showed up as promised! Daws is THE MAN!

Tonight is banquet and tomorrow 145 miles. Later.
