  • Breitenfelde Germany Sponsor!

I am thrilled to announce Björn Andersson owner of Breitenfelde Harley-Davidson will be a sponsor of our 2018 Cannonball event! His dealership is a very short distance from Hamburg. I encourage all of you to support his dealership if ever in the area. Here is his website: http://www.hdbreitenfelde.de/

  • Front End Work

Time to get back to work! While the engine is under way, I want to ensure the fork neck bearings are AOK. So I rigged a hook and strap to hold front end off the ground while I remove front end.

Handlebars off so I can slip front end out.

    Stay tuned.

  • Engine Work

Here is the first engine we are working on. The challenge here was to remove the pinion gear. It is a taper shaft with key fit. There is extremely very little space between the gear and case to get a puller in. My machinest made a puller. Next is to separate the flywheels to inspect rod, crankpin, and bushings.

A different spare engine didn’t come apart quite so nice. Here is the cylinder:

However the good news here is the valves, lower end, piston and tod all look great. So all in all we are in great shape.

  • Engine Work Progress

I haven’t had an update recently, however that does not mean work is at a stand still. In the contrary engine work is progressing nicely. In process right now:

    * Cases have been split

    * Specual puller made to properly remove the pinion gear

    * Hastings will be making new rings for original piston

    * New fins being welded on cylinder

    * New exhaust valve being modified along with fitting the exhaust guide

Using the spare engines I have we seem to be in great shape with parts needed. Goal will be two complete running engines.

That’s it for now. Back to work.

  • Retired from Bike Shows…

… until further notice. Time to get the engine up and running. More updates to follow.

  • Happy Happy

After the St. Louis show. I’m just happy. No explanation needed.

  • Cycle Showcase St. Louis

Arrived and all set up for the show.

  • Cylinder Removal

On yet another spare engine I wanted to remove the cylinder. I do not know the history of this engine. The cylinder is in excellent condition and I want to prepare this for use.

It came off nice and the bore and piston look great.

Next will be to clean and check piston fitment.

  • Engine Work

Bottom end coming apart in the first spare engine. I’ll consider this engine “practice” and make it a runner. Then work will begin on the original engine. Still on target for a July running machine.
