  • First Start!

Well 21 months after acquiring this machine it came to life! This was the very first attempt on Sunday September 10th:

And later in the week on Tuesday September 12th:

What a feeling!! Lots to do yet but we are on our way!

  • We Have Spark!

External wiring to confirm spark. All systems are a go!

  • Lagging Complete

Finished gluing and screwing lagging to rear pulley! One step closer.

  • Preparing Rear Pulley

Next will be attaching leather lagging on the rear wooden pulley.  First to toughen up the surface a bit.

Next punch holes in the leather.

    Punch pilot marks for drilling.

More to follow. Drilling, glueing, and screwing next.

  • Oil Injection

After the Davenport meet and conversations I had with experts, I know I will need to be able to better measure initial oil in the crankcase. So I was able to improvise this contraption to “inject” oil into the crankcase for initial starts. I’ll then measure oil output along the way.

  • Davenport Meet

Had the bike in Davenport to show off and also to get some advise from antique bike owners. Had a lot of excellent conversations and learned a lot in a few hours! John Neuman, Kenny Schnieider, Mike Lange, Tim Thoule, Bill Rodencal, and Jethro Smith to name but a few. I also just missed Joe Turner and it would have been cool to meet him in person. I am at somewhat of a roadblock until I can locate a Schebler gas fitting nut and line. Hope to locate one soon! Starting the bike this coming week.

  • Almost!

  • Seat On!

Well six hours after starting I have my new seat mounted. Removing the spring assembly was quite the challenge. All nuts were rusted solid. I was able to save six of the nine. The other three I had to cut off. I want to thank Jethro Smith for the perfect seat. Impeccable workmanship.

    All done!

    One step closer.
